Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to force a third set.

He defended 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
